Investigations into the Invisible: Villa Bianca
Since humanity began to question the meaning of life and death, it has sought answers beyond the boundaries of the visible. Stories of apparitions, enigmatic presences, and inexplicable phenomena accompany every era and culture, intertwining with religion, folklore, and popular traditions.

Since humanity began to question the meaning of life and death, it has sought answers beyond the boundaries of the visible. Stories of apparitions, enigmatic presences, and inexplicable phenomena accompany every era and culture, intertwining with religion, folklore, and popular traditions. The writer Edgar Allan Poe claimed that "everything we see or seem is but a dream within a dream." A reflection that still seems to perfectly fit those phenomena that elude conventional explanations and continue to fuel questions that are as fascinating as they are controversial. Parapsychology arises precisely from this border area: a territory where curiosity, observation, and research attempt to shed light on events that seem to lie beyond current scientific knowledge. It is not necessarily about believing or not believing, but about observing, documenting, and analyzing. In this column, we will accompany the reader into places, testimonies, and field investigations. On one side will be the direct experience of a ghost hunter, an expert in the use of modern instruments employed in paranormal investigations; on the other, a more critical and analytical perspective, aimed at contextualizing phenomena and evaluating the various possible interpretations. Each article will start from a real case: an investigation, a testimony, or an unusual event. Through the recounting of the experience and the deepening of the tools used, we will seek to understand what happens when the unknown meets the method of observation. Because the mystery is not only what we cannot explain. It is, above all, what continues to drive us to seek answers, and it is precisely from here that we want to begin, delving into one of the investigations carried out by Daniele Xtreme Paranormal Finder, a paranormal investigator with years of field experience and a deep knowledge of the instruments used in modern investigations. To understand how an investigation in the field of paranormal research unfolds, we decided to start from a particularly well-known case among enthusiasts: Villa Levrieri, known by many as Villa Bianca. A building that, over time, has been at the center of stories, legends, and reports of alleged anomalous phenomena. Through his account, we will retrace the phases of the investigation, analyzing not only the events observed but also the instruments used to document and interpret them. The goal is not to demonstrate a priori the existence of the paranormal nor to deny it, but to recount an investigation as it unfolded, leaving space for facts, observations, and possible interpretations. Among silent rooms and testimonies passed down through time, our journey on the border of the inexplicable begins.
"When I approached the investigation of Villa Bianca, my priority was credibility. Every paranormal investigation must be approached with scientific instrumentation: quality audio recorders, thermal cameras, electromagnetic field detectors. I am well aware that many apps for smartphones are used in investigations, but these are easily manipulated and often fuel hype more than truth. A serious investigator knows that the most important thing is the reliability of the data, and for this reason, they rely only on verifiable technical tools. Furthermore, it is essential to emphasize that the investigative work does not end with field recordings or the instant listening of a spirit box. The heart of the process occurs later, at home, with careful analysis on the computer. Every trace, every frame, and every sound collected must be analyzed meticulously, eliminating interference and false leads. It is in this phase that the difference is made between sensationalism and genuine research, separating real data from misleading ones. Contrary to what one might think, knowing the history of a place in detail does not always represent an advantage during an investigation. In fact, it can often become an obstacle. Knowing in advance what events were supposed to occur in a particular environment risks unconsciously influencing perception and leading to interpreting every sensation or anomaly through a pre-constructed lens. For this reason, I prefer to approach a site with as free an attitude as possible from preconceptions. I never enter with the idea of having to find something specific but with great expectations regarding the experience itself. I listen, in an almost absolute silence and with the utmost respect for the place that hosts me, hence the decision to always go alone. It is a form of devotion that requires patience, concentration, and an open mind. Only under these conditions, in my opinion, is it possible to catch those subtle signals that might indicate a presence. It is not about seeking proof at all costs but about allowing oneself to be guided by sensations, trying to perceive what many researchers define as the "call" of the entities: a tenuous communication, often imperceptible, that requires calm and attention to be grasped. The investigation at Villa Bianca proved particularly fruitful. When I entered Villa Bianca, I was not facing an unknown place. Over the years, I had already had the opportunity to visit it and conduct several paranormal investigations within it. This familiarity with the environment allowed me to move with greater awareness, already knowing the areas that, in previous explorations, had shown more intense activity or had evoked particularly significant perceptions. I knew perfectly well where to stop, where, in the past, I had felt the possible presence of entities more strongly. For this reason, the positioning of the instrumentation was not random but studied based on the experience gained during previous investigations. I placed the EM PUMP, electromagnetic field generators, on the staircase, the most significant passage point, night vision cameras while the laser grid was installed in one of the rooms that, during previous explorations, had returned the most interesting findings. Despite knowing the structure and its investigative history well, I tried to maintain an open approach, allowing the place and any phenomena to tell their story. Experience teaches where to observe, but every investigation is different from the previous one and requires the same attention, the same patience, and the same ability to listen as the first time. In the solitude and total darkness of that building, I was not only able to perceive the call of the entities, but I also obtained a visual confirmation through one of the instruments I use most often during explorations: the laser grid. This is a device that projects hundreds of bright points or a regular pattern of laser lines into the environment, creating a sort of three-dimensional grid visible even in low light conditions. In the field of paranormal research, it is used because any object or presence that crosses the beam of light causes a distortion in the geometry of the grid, altering its shape or interrupting some points. During investigations, the grid must be placed in a room and monitored using infrared cameras. If a point in the pattern moves, deforms, or disappears without an apparent cause, the phenomenon is recorded and subsequently analyzed. According to many paranormal researchers, these anomalies could indicate the passage or manifestation of an entity capable of interacting with the physical environment. To obtain reliable results, it is essential to eliminate any possible false positives. For this reason, the operator must never position themselves in front of the laser grid, but always behind it or outside the monitored area. Even the slightest human movement could alter the luminous grid and generate erroneous interpretations. Another essential element is the presence of a fixed camera, preferably infrared, constantly aimed at the area affected by the projection. Continuous recording allows for later verification of any anomalies, excluding as much as possible natural causes such as insects, suspended dust, variations in light, or accidental movements of the operators. Only through this rigorous method of observation is it possible to attribute real investigative relevance to the alterations of the grid, distinguishing a simple environmental effect from a phenomenon that deserves more in-depth analysis. During the exploration of Villa Bianca, it was precisely the laser grid that provided one of the most interesting elements of the entire evening. I was sitting in front of a fireplace, during a communication session using my PSB7 Spirit box. This continued its frequency scanning while I tried to catch any intelligent responses or anomalies that could suggest a form of interaction, and it was precisely at that moment, when the room was completely still and devoid of perceivable drafts, that a portion of the grid showed an evident alteration, as if something had interposed itself between the projector and the wall, passing several times. An anomaly that, along with the sensations perceived on site, represented one of the most intense and destabilizing moments of the entire investigation."
Those who conduct this type of research know well how important it is to maintain clarity and critical spirit, avoiding hasty conclusions. For this reason, every anomaly is always analyzed with extreme caution, first seeking rational and verifiable explanations. That evening, however, the alteration recorded by the laser grid manifested under controlled conditions, with the operator at least five meters away from the instrument and with a fixed camera documenting the entire scene. It was precisely the possibility of reviewing the images multiple times that allowed for the exclusion of the most common causes that could have generated a false positive. Observing the recording, the shared feeling was that of being faced with something different from the usual. For the first time, there were not only perceptions, impressions, or subjective sensations, but a visual confirmation that seemed to corroborate what had been felt at that precise moment. A moment that left Xpf deeply shaken, not so much out of fear, but from the awareness that perhaps he was not truly alone inside Villa Bianca. Naturally, we cannot assert with absolute certainty what the origin of that manifestation was. However, considering the overall circumstances, the perceptions gathered on site, and the documentation acquired, that phenomenon remains one of the most significant episodes ever recorded in one of his investigations. Even today, looking back at those images, we relive the same sensation experienced that night, that of having captured something that eludes normal explanations and that, for a brief moment, left its trace before our eyes.
