Reflections on 2019: A Year of Events and Growth
Reflecting on the significant events of 2019, including celebrations, protests, and personal growth, as we transition into a new year.
As we close the chapter on yet another year, it’s time to reflect on the significant moments that shaped 2019. Just as I recently penned a retrospective for 2018, the arrival of the new year prompts a fresh look back at the past twelve months.
Before diving into the highlights, I would like to extend warm wishes to all my readers and friends. Merry Christmas and a joyful transition into the new year!
In March, I celebrated the Chili-Eskalations-Party, also known as Robert's birthday. What began as an intimate gathering last year transformed into a lively event this time around. Additionally, I participated in an Internet blackout to protest the new EU copyright law, a significant moment for digital rights.
Towards the end of March 2019, I also joined the Reservistenkameradschaft Sommerkahl and the Reservistenarbeitsgemeinschaft Schießsport Aschaffenburg, both part of the German Bundeswehr Reservists Association (VdRBw).
April brought a technical piece I authored about the closure of Google+, a social media platform originally intended to compete with Facebook and Twitter.
June marked my annual visit to the Hamradio event, which proved to be another successful gathering.
In July, I participated in the Brüderschaft der Völker festival in Aschaffenburg, supported by Notfunk – Deutschland. I was actively involved at two booths: one for the German Amateur Radio Club, local chapter Aschaffenburg, and the other for the Hackerspace Schaffenburg e.V.
October saw another technical entry where I discussed my own autonomous system on the Internet, showcasing my ongoing engagement with technology.
The PMRexpo 2019 took place from November 26 to 28, where I collaborated with Notfunk – Deutschland. This year, we shared a double booth with the Brandmeister team, an arrangement that garnered considerable interest.
As December rolled in, the festive season began with holiday parties and the usual hustle of year-end client work. Unfortunately, the holiday spirit was elusive due to the stress of the season, only arriving briefly on December 24, just before the Christmas service, and dissipating by December 27 as work resumed.
